MYAN NSW works in partnership with young people, government and the non-government sectors to promote the interests of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, and to support a targeted approach to addressing these in policy and service delivery. 


MYAN NSW submissions

MYAN NSW provided a submission in response to the Encouraging Self-sufficiency for Newly Arrived Migrants Bill in April 2018.

MYAN NSW and Youth Action provided a submission to the Inquiry into Migrant Settlement Outcomes in February 2017. Along with three Youth Ambassadors, MYAN NSW gave evidence at the public hearing. The Hansard transcript can be read here.

MYAN NSW provided a submission to the NSW Parliament’s Committee on Children and Young People in January 2014, for its inquiry into volunteering opportunities and unpaid work placements for young people.

MYAN NSW and RCOA Consultation on Australia’s Refugee Program

In November 2014, MYAN NSW and the Refugee Council of Australia joined forces to consult with young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds in Western Sydney about Australia’s Refugee Program. The consultation was held at MECA in Mt Druitt. To read what young people had to say, click here.
